Welcome to my corner of cyberspace. Would you like a cookie?
I’m Sophia Chen, a freelance science writer based in Columbus, Ohio. I cover physics, space, AI, and anything involving numbers.
My writing has been featured in Wired, Science, New Scientist, Physics World, and more. You can also find my words spoken in Physics Girl, a YouTube channel of more than 1.4 million subscribers. In 2015, I received the AAAS Mass Media fellowship, and a few turns around the sun ago, I was a physicist. I have a master’s degree in physics from the University of Arizona, and I’m an alum of Oberlin College. In 2012, I received a Fulbright scholarship to study air pollution in China. In 2022, I was the writer-in-residence at the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing at UC Berkeley.
